Location
KK Esplanade is situated in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city. It is surrounded by famous landmarks such as
the Cocoon Bar, Wisma Merdeka shopping complex and the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The KK Esplanade is the best
place to enjoy the atmosphere of Kota Kinabalu city.
Overview
KK Esplanade's area continues north, passing the Filipino Market and the Handicraft Market and all the way
through Central Market and finally towards at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Wisma Merdeka. The view at the
esplanade is simply out of this world. The blue skies and clear water are just so soothing to look at. This
is a great place for photo shooting.
Another prominent landmark in Kota Kinabalu is located along the Signal Hill Road which is just beside the
old Police Station. This is the famous Atkinson Clock Tower. It was built in 1903 with only wood and no nails.
It was built in memory of the late Francis George Atkinson who was the first District Officer of Jesselton
during the British North Borneo Chartered Company Administration. The tower is the oldest standing structure
in the whole of Sabah which lasted through the destruction of Jesselton during the disastrous World War II.
Close by is the Jesselton Point Water Front which is the main boat terminal for Labuan and
Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park - bound passengers. There are plentiful places to dine at the water front.
Hotels in Kota Kinabalu are abundant which ranges from high end ones to budget ones. Do book in advance to
avoid disappointment.

The easiest way to reach the KK Esplanade is via a cab or by renting a car.
